EC Type Approval of Lifts, Model Lifts, and Safety Components as per the Lift Directive 95/16/EC
In cases involving unconventional lift design (variations to harmonized standards), an EC type examination of lifts and model lifts as per Lift Directive 95/16/EC, Annex V/B suggests itself. The EC type examination covers review of the entire lift design, including interaction of the installed safety components and - in particular, in cases involving variations to harmonized standards - verification of the hazard assessment prepared by the installer of the lift for compliance with the required safety level.
The difference between a model lift and a lift with type examination certificate is that certain parameters of a model lift (e.g. lifting height) may be variable as set forth in its EC type-examination certificate.
TÜV SÜD offers:
- EC type examinations as per Lift Directive 95/16/EC, Annex V/B (module B) for lifts and model lifts on both the lift installer's/manufacturer's premises or at the site of lift operation.
- EC Type Examination of Safety Components as per Lift Directive
- Random checking according to Annex XI (module C)
- Review of the submitted technical dossier (including but not limited to hazard assessment, lift specifications, approval drawings, list of safety components, etc.)
- Verification of the (model) lift's compliance with the submitted documentation
- Implementation of the required checks and tests on the (model) lift
Following successful completion of EC type examination, a detailed test report will be prepared on behalf of the lift installer. On the basis of this test report, the Certification Body for Lifts and Safety Components will issue an EC type examination certificate.
Your advantages:
- Lifts subjected to EC type examination as per Lift Directive 95/16/EC, Annex V/B, are easier to place on the market.
- Safety Components subjected to EC type examination as per Lift Directive 95/16/EC are easier to place on the market.
- Monitoring of your European Directive approvals to maintain their validity through audits, random checking visits, etc.
- Instead of unit verification as per Annex X (module G), they only need to undergo final inspection as per Annex VI (module F) of the Lift Directive, because lift design has already been fully assessed within the scope of type examination.
- Benefit from our expertise and long years of experience with lifts and machinery when placing your lifts on the market in compliance with Lift Directive 95/16/EC.
- As the name TÜV SÜD enjoys an excellent reputation, you can rest assured that our reports and certificates will be widely accepted.
